Mészáros, Genet & Other Sudden Fevers - A New Years Eve Special
If identifying non-follicular organisms (i.e. exanthematous), Jean Genet’s burial site, shit jobs, and a box of wigs sounds like the evening you’ve been dreaming of —we’re excited you've chosen to situate yourself right alongside us.
Our episode departs from a collection of some unusual words from our archive, then moves on to the work of Hungarian filmmaker Márta Mészáros; with a focus on her feelings on the film industry, and her lonely masterpiece from 1975, ‘ADOPTION’. I took it in, twice in one day (like how I used to watch Tarkovsky in the 90’s). Only very recently was Mészáros’ work recognized, especially being shot during an era of rising conservatism in Europe…although Márta was in fact friends with Fassbinder.
We also read from one of our favorite trembling FICTIONAL WORKS, OUR LADY OF THE FLOWERS, BY Jean Genet, and of course we confess to other unmentionable habits and theories.
Stay until the very end of EPISODE #41 for tracks by Olen Puhunut, Elori Saxl, Kleenex/Liliput, Einsturzende Neubauten, Damon, Vaclav Neckar, Front 242, Radiohead (a few of our can’t-live-without-tracks), as well as Asha Bhosle, Henry Cow, Cocteau Twins, Bjork, Eva Pilarova, Space Cats, and other favorites from our archive.
We wish you the very best, whether you'll be slithering at a balanced pace or sailing off to new horizons —be well in your endeavors, and don’t eat any stale juniper berries.
